Rivian has officially brought back its heavily requested green interior option after two years of persistent community lobbying in the form of customer emails, forum threads, Reddit discussions, and more.
When the Gen 2 R1T and R1S debuted in 2024, Rivian refreshed its interior configurations and quietly retired Forest Edge, an earthy green upholstery paired with brown ash wood accents. In response to immense community demand, the adventure EV brand has listened to its fanbase and announced the return of the fan-favorite look.
The Forest Edge Bundle
According to Rivian, the woodland-inspired look surrounds occupants in earthy green upholstery and rich brown ash wood accents. The heated and ventilated front seats include unique textile accents alongside distinctive pill-shaped details that match the design of the vehicle's headlights. Forest Edge wraps the entire cabin in a lush green, accented with wood grain detailing.
The interior trim is returning as a limited run but is no longer available as a standalone selection. Instead, it is bundled into a $9,000 package exclusive to the Adventure trim on Dual-Motor AWD R1T and R1S configurations equipped with the Max battery option. The full package includes:
The Forest Edge interior, combined with premium brown ash wood accents
A choice of Forest Green, Half Moon Grey, or Glacier White exterior paint
Rivian’s Sound + Vision Package, which adds an expansive Dynamic Glass Roof and Rivian Premium Audio (with Dolby Atmos)
The Darkout Package to chrome delete the exterior trim pieces
Standard 22-inch Sport Dark wheels or an option to choose 20-inch All-Terrain Dark wheels
Pricing with the bundle starts at around $89,000 for the R1T and $93,000 for the R1S. Because the option is tied specifically to the Adventure trim on Dual-Max vehicles, higher-tier Tri-Motor and Quad-Motor configurations are excluded from getting the green interior.
Seasonal Upgrades and Future Outlook
This (likely limited-time) premium bundle lands at a busy moment for Rivian. Mass production for the next-generation R2 is ramping up ahead of its spring launch, with deliveries slated to begin with the Performance Launch Package trim on June 9.
Existing R1 owners have plenty of updates to look forward to as well. Rivian recently confirmed that the R1T and R1S will eventually get the same upgraded software as the R2 with the release of RivianOS 2.0, and they’ve also shared plans to offer an official retrofit option for the much-improved R2 MagSafe wireless phone charger.
Rivian's design team noted that they plan to treat colors and materials as seasonal drops, rotating in discontinued interior options throughout the production run. This means we could potentially see other retired favorites make a comeback in future cycles. The Forest Edge package is open for orders now, though Rivian hasn’t specified an official end date as of the time of writing.
